Privacy
This explains what vent.guru collects, why, where it’s kept and what you can do about it. We keep it short and we don’t sell or share your data for advertising.
Who we are
vent.guru is run by Bert, trading as bertweb.dev, a sole trader based in the UK. We decide how your personal data is used (we’re the “controller”). Contact: [email protected].
What we collect

If your business turns on AI features (paid plans), the photos, receipts or text you send for AI are processed by our AI provider to read them, and the result is shown to you to confirm. AI providers we use don’t train on your data.
To help with a problem, we can open a read-only view of your business’s stock and history. We can’t change anything, it never shows cost prices, and each time we look it’s recorded and shown to your business’s owner in the app.
Who helps us run it
- Cloudflare: secure connection to our server, and storage for photos and encrypted backups (EU).
- Our server: the database runs on our own server in the UK.
- Resend: sends sign-in codes and invites by email.
- Google and Apple: only if you choose to sign in with them.
- Ollama (Ollama, Inc., USA): reads the photos and words you send to AI features, only for businesses that have AI switched on. We don’t keep the photos; we keep the words with the stock change, so you can see what was heard. Ollama says it doesn’t keep them or train on them.
- Stripe: card payments, once paid plans start. We never see your full card number.
Some of these companies may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they’re covered by UK adequacy rules or standard contractual safeguards.
Cookies
This page (vent.guru) sets no cookies and has no advertising. We count visits with Umami, which we host ourselves: it sets no cookies, doesn’t identify you and doesn’t store your IP address. The app (app.vent.guru) uses only the cookies it needs to keep you signed in and to recognise an invite link. Those are essential, so there’s no banner.
How long we keep it
- Waitlist entries: until you join the beta, ask us to remove you, or 2 years, whichever comes first.
- Account and business data: while the business has an account. A deleted business is removed after 30 days (so a mistake can be undone), and from backups within a further 30 days.
- Free plans show 90 days of history; older history is deleted after 12 months.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your personal data, object to how we use it, or ask us to stop. Email [email protected] and we’ll reply within a month. Your business can export its stock as a CSV at any time.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change this notice in a way that matters, we’ll tell beta users by email before it takes effect.
